Do you ever feel overwhelmed by social media?I know I do! And it’s my job! There are new social networks, apps, and social lingo developing everyday.
And let me tell you something, it’s not going to slow down.
But don’t freak out!!!!
Just take a deep breath. In, and out…ahhh
And say “I can do this!”
Come on, say it! “I can do this!”
Now here are some things that I do to help stay organized and feel a little less overwhelmed.
I. Write/type down every social media site that you are on. Yes, including your old Myspace account and that stumbleupon account you made a few years ago and never got a hang of.
II. Depending on how often you use social media, pick a couple to a few sites that you are really going to focus on. Also this is a good time to decide which sites are going to be for personal use and which are going to be for professional use.
III. Delete any sites that you created and never used.
IV. Create a weekly routine where you check those important social sites (ex. your business Facebook page) that you don’t check on a regular basis. It’s easy to go on to your personal Facebook page and post about your cat, but when it comes to Google +, Facebook pages, and LinkedIn, we tend to forget to keep up with them.
V. Really try and make managing those few social networks a part of your routine. Check your phone for updates while you drink your coffee in the morning. Designate a few minutes of time when you check your emails to also check your social networks. It may not seem like a lot, but making this a part of your routine can really help.
VI. And finally, relax! Social media can be scary, but with these few steps it can make it a lot easier.
